Whitney Caruso joined the IFR board in 2015, and currently serves as Chair of the Board’s Fundraising Committee. After living in Nicaragua for two years, she developed a great affinity for Latino/a culture, and has reconnected to it through her service to IFR. In Nicaragua, Whitney worked for the Foundation for Sustainable Development as an intern at a microfinance organization, and then later, as a Program Coordinator. Whitney currently serves as a Director at Third Plateau, a social impact strategy firm that partners with people and organizations that have game-changing ideas to improve the world.
Whitney obtained a a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Studies from U.C. Santa Barbara, and a Masters degree in International Affairs from U.C. San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy. She is bilingual in English and Spanish. Originally from Sebastopol in northern California, she now resides in Oakland where she enjoys seeing live music, playing soccer, and running (or sitting) around Lake Merritt.
