Instituto Familiar de la Raza invites you to the opening reception for local Bay Area artist Adrian Delgado, aka “The Visual Poet.” Artist, Adrian Delgado, describes this series as “A collection of work documenting our generation’s universal struggle to chase the dream of opportunity; it is my visual poetry.”

“Recurring themes in Delgado’s work include Mexican and Mexican-American alienation, human struggle, as well as the universal struggle of industrial labor. His work also features beautiful imperfections, real people, working and living every day. His visual poetry awaits your senses to be fully engulfed, embraced and framed. His paintings are wooden canvases which are not sanded or cleaned to remind viewers that these are images of imperfection.

The reception will be held at the Latino Wellness Center — a collaborative between Instituto Familiar de la Raza and the Mission Neighborhood Health Center — located at 1663 Mission Street, Suite 603 in San Francisco. The Latino Wellness Center provides a range of culturally-based services for the LGBTQ Latino community, such as rapid HIV testing, support groups, individualized services, and mental health services.
